Code of Behaviour

The Code of Behaviour for Unionville Meadows Public School is based on self-respect and respect for the rights of others.

WE BELIEVE:

Each student is unique with individual needs and attitudes. The school attempts to help the student develop a feeling of self-worth and confidence; and a sense of personal responsibility toward attitudes, academic work, behaviour, and attendance.

The student should learn to make independent, responsible decisions, and to accept the consequences of those decisions.

Appropriate decision making and student conduct are shared responsibilities. They come as a result of efforts by parents, students, and teachers.

Every student has the right to an education without interferences, and every student has a responsibility not to interfere with the education of others.

SCHOOL BEHAVIOUR CODE

Rules are intended to create a positive and safe learning environment. At Unionville Meadows Public School we feel there needs to be very few rules if all students use common sense and courtesy. The following guidelines clearly show how these should be demonstrated in our school and when representing our school elsewhere.

Always treat others with respect.

Use appropriate language at all times.

Deposit gum in the garbage can before entering the school.

Avoid physical contact or aggressive play (no tackle games).

All personal electronic games and equipment and items of personal value are not permitted in the classroom.

Walk bicycles, skateboards, and remove in-line skates when on school property.

Students in Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, and 3 are recommended not to ride their bicycles to school.

Bicycle helmets must be worn.

Follow safety rules on the road, buses, and bicycles.

Hardballs are not permitted at school.

Play carefully near windows.

Do not throw sticks, stones, snowballs, or other projectiles.

A valid pass is required to enter the school at recess and lunch time.
