Lunch Expectations

Lunch at UMPS is scheduled for 12:20 to 1:20 p.m. daily. Since student safety is one of our prime concerns, we need to know where you child should be eating lunch. We will be sending you a form early in September on which you can indicate where your child will be eating lunch, e.g. school/home/another location.

The students eating at school during the entire lunch period are supervised by adults. Students who eat lunch at school are expected to remain on the school property for the entire lunch period. We strongly discourage parents from giving students permission to leave school property are lunch, unless they are going home for lunch. If, on occasion, a student who regularly eats at school wishes to leave school for lunch, a written letter of permission from the parent/guardian must be submitted to the school prior to the student leaving. Students remaining at school for lunch are expected to follow these guidelines:

Drinks in glass containers should not be brought to school.
Students should remain in their own seat (and classroom) during lunch.
Students should speak in a normal voice when conversing.
Students should keep all food, containers, etc. on their own desk and should keep any mess to a minimum.
Each student is responsible for clearing up their own area.
Students should eat their entire lunch or bring leftover food home.
Permission to use the washroom or leave the room must be obtained from a duty supervisor.
Students should move directly outside at the 12:40 p.m. bell.
