Chronic lateness is a concern to us. Children, coming late, regularly miss an important part of the class day and the opening exercises. They develop poor habits and attitudes around punctuality that will remain with them into adult life and they are always beginning their day in a "catch-up" state of mind. If late, children are required to check in at the office before going to class. Teachers will track and remediate late comers' behaviour through letters to parents, detentions and the services of the Attendance Counselor where necessary. Parents should keep their children at home when they are ill until they are well enough to participate fully in the school program. Students must go out for recess and participate in gym class unless they have a doctor's letter recommending exemption. |
